Dr. Rajesh Brahmbhatt

Dr Rajesh Brahmbhatt is the Medical Director at Cardiac Care Centre, Hurstville, Wetherill Park and Wentworthville. He is a highly trained and knowledgeable Consultant Cardiologist with more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of the diagnosis and management of Heart Disease.
Dr Brahmbhatt has been a pioneering Cardiologist with the Cardiac Care Centre from the day of its inception in Hurstville in 2009. He first commenced consultative practice in Hurstville in 2006. This was a major landmark in Cardiology in the region as it has allowed patients to be both, investigated and treated, locally. Dr Brahmbhatt has a wealth of experience in all aspects of Cardiology. He has worked in various reputable teaching hospitals around Australia for several years, gaining critical insight into different aspects of Medicine and Cardiology.
Prior to this, he worked at SSG Hospital, Baroda (a University Teaching Hospital) in India for several years, whilst simultaneously training future undergraduate and postgraduate students of medicine and cardiology at Baroda Medical College, The MS University of Baroda, India to the highest standard of education.
Over the years, Dr Brahmbhatt has gained comprehensive Cardiology training in the UK and Australia. He has completed a two-year Fellowship at Westmead Hospital in 1999, where he acquired high quality clinical training in all aspects of Cardiology from some of the best educators in the country.
Dr Brahmbhatt has been actively involved in both medical and interventional management of Acute Coronary Syndrome patients, and has special interest in management of heart failure, hypertension, lipid disorders, diabetes mellitus and cardiac arrhythmias. He is regarded as an authoritative speaker on cardiac issues at medical meetings. This reflects his ongoing commitment to his own clinical education and his capacity to remain at the forefront of advances in Cardiology.
Dr Brahmbhatt is amongst the top 10 rated Cardiologists in Sydney, according to RateMDs.com.

Dr. Hany Abed
Sub Specialty: Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist
Dr Hany Abed graduated from Sydney University in 2003 after completing his medical and pharmacy degrees. Having undertaken his junior training across Sydney and Newcastle, Dr Abed pursued a PhD in basic and clinical sciences at the University of Adelaide. His work resulted in a paradigm shift in the guideline-directed management of the commonest cardiac arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation. His work investigated how weight gain affects heart muscle structure and function as well as electrical activity. In a world first study, Dr Abed led a landmark clinical trial demonstrating the benefits of weight reduction on cardiac electrical health and atrial fibrillation.
Dr Abed has been awarded numerous prestigious national and international prizes including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Australia and New Zealand Ralph Reader Prize and the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society.
He completed his fellowship in the cardiac arrhythmia sub-specialty in Chicago Illinois for 2 years, completing this by certifying with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners.
Dr Abed is appointed Visiting Medical Officer at Hurstville Private Hospital and staff specialist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. Dr Abed is a senior clinical lecturer at Sydney University where he is involved in medical education and research.
Special Areas of Interest:
Dr Abed has an interest in all cardiac rhythm disorders and their management, both invasive and non-invasive. Dr Abed is also a general cardiologist with a particular interest in risk factor modification and preventative cardiology.

Dr. Shweta Sahay

Dr Shweta Sahay works part time in Wetherill Park as an Interventional Cardiologist.
Dr. Shweta Sahay has done her MBBS (1999) and MD Internal Medicine (2003) from Nagpur University, India. She has worked in Australia since 2005 (Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, ACT & SA) and completed her FRACP Cardiology (2012) from The Canberra Hospital, ACT.
Subsequently she has done fellowship in Cardiac MRI and Intervention Cardiology (2013-14) from Royal Adelaide Hospital & St. Andrew’s Hospital, Adelaide. She then went to Europe to do Intervention Cardiology Fellowship (2015-16) in Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid, Spain.
Later she worked as Intervention Cardiologist in Narayana Hospital, Ahmedabad, India (2017-2018) before moving to NSW, Australia in April 2018 to work as Consultant Intervention Cardiologist with attachment at Hurstville Private Hospital and Sydney South West Private Hospital. She is experienced in research trials and has published and presented her research in Australian, American and European journals and conferences.
Dr. Sahay is well-versed in all aspects of Intervention Cardiology including primary and complex PCIs (ostial, bifurcation, left main, graft PCI, CTO),intervention imaging (OCT, IVUS, synchronised IVUS), physiological procedures (FFR, iFR, CFR), structural heart disease (ASD/PFO closure, LAA closure, TAVI, Mitraclip), peripheral interventions (renal angioplasty, renal denervation, IABP, EVAR) as well as Cardiac MRI.

Dr. Louis Wang

Dr Louis Wang is an experienced clinical cardiologist. He is a staff specialist in Vascular Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital and also works as a consultant cardiologist and general physician at Sydney Hospital. Dr Wang graduated from the University of New South Wales with the University Medal in Medicine and first class honours, and has a PhD for pioneering research in high frequency echocardiography.
His clinical interests include general cardiology, heart failure, anticoagulation, perioperative medicine as well as the management of venous thromboembolism (deep vein thrombosis / pulmonary embolism). Dr. Tejas Deshmukh

Dr Tejas Deshmukh is a clinical adult cardiologist with an interest in Interventional Cardiology. He has completed his PhD under the supervision of A/Prof James Chong at Westmead Institute of Medical Research/University of Sydney. He also completed his Master of Clinical Trials Research from University of Sydney (2013).
He has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts in national and international journals as well as presented at national and international scientific meetings.
Special interests:
Dr Deshmukh’s practice encompasses all aspects of adult cardiology, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart rhythm disorders, heart failure, cardiovascular imaging, and preventive cardiology. He has completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in cardiac regeneration with A/Prof James Chong at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. He is a recipient of the prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Scholarship as well as National Heart Foundation (NHF) Health Professionals Scholarship. He is also a Clinical Lecturer at The University of Sydney.
Qualifications:
After completion of his MBBS (2011) from Western Sydney University, he continued his medical training through Westmead Hospital where he completed basic physician training (2016) and subsequently advanced training in cardiology (2019) where he was awarded Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He has also completed a Masters in Clinical Trials Research (MClinTr) from the University of Sydney in 2014.
Dr Deshmukh has an interest in interventional cardiology with a particular interest in preventative medicine. He has a holistic and compassionate approach to patient care, and provides highly personalised, readily accessible medical consultations

Dr. Xavier Brennan

Dr Xavier Brennan is currently a Staff Specialist Cardiologist in the Sydney Local Health District at Canterbury Hospital where he runs the Heart Failure Clinic. Dr Brennan has sub-speciality training in cardiac imaging.
Graduating from the University of New South Wales in 2013, he completed rotations at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Campbelltown Hospital and Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
Dr Brennan was then accepted into cardiology advanced training at the prestigious St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. In 2020 he was a NSW transplant cardiology registrar and completed rotations in advanced heart failure. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2022.
Dr Brennan then completed a cardiac imaging fellowship at the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Centre at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He achieved Level B accreditation in reporting Cardiac CT and has expertise in reporting Cardiac MRI equivalent to Level 3 accreditation with the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR).
He has reported over 1000 cardiac MRIs and is a member of SCMR. As an imaging cardiologist Dr Brennan has a special interest in heart failure, infiltrative cardiomyopathies and the role of MRI tissue characterisation techniques in cardiac pathology.

Dr Brennan has numerous publications and led one of the first Australian studies published into cardiac AL amyloidosis survival.

Dr Ata Doost has been a Consultant Cardiologist since 2019. Dr Doost completed his undergraduate medical training in Tehran, Iran and then continued physician training in the Canberra Hospital. He completed his cardiology training in major cardiology centres including The Canberra Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital. He then proceeded with extensive training in interventional cardiology at Fiona Stanley Hospital in 2020 and 2021 and was an interventional and structural fellow at the world-renowned King’s College Hospital, London, United Kingdom in 2021 and 2022. Dr Doost has performed many thousands of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisations (predominantly trans-radial) and hundreds of percutaneous transcatherer valvular interventions.
Alongside a wealth of general cardiology experience including the assessment and treatment of coronary and valvular heart disease and risk stratification, Dr Doost also treats hypertension and general heart rhythm disturbances, patients with angina, and heart failure. Dr Doost is an interventional cardiologist who specialises in the treatment of coronary artery disease. and first operator interventional cardiac catheterisations (predominantly trans-radial). He also has special interest in intracoronary imaging and physiology (IVUS, OCT, FFR) and coronary calcium modification techniques such as rotational atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy. He treats patients with valvular heart disease with the use of novel percutaneous techniques to treat aortic and mitral valve disease (TAVI and percutaneous mitral valve repair). His research interests have included multi modality cardiac imaging, coronary calcification and use of intracoronary imaging and coronary calcium modification techniques and the application of coronary physiology in an interventional setting. His research has also explored the differences and potential advantages of intervention performed from the radial artery. Dr Doost also awarded Master of Philosophy from Australian National University Medical School for his research on the application of micro CT scan in small animal models.
Dr. Ata Rehman

Dr Rehman graduated MBBS from Pakistan and moved to the United Kingdom where he finished his internship. He then relocated to Australia and completed his fellowship in internal medicine in 2012.
Dr Rehman enjoys all aspects of medicine. He worked in internal medicine and preventative cardiovascular health for 7 years in Wollongong and Shellharbour. He has since completed his DDU (Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound) in Cardiology (January 2022).
He is a member of the American Board of Echocardiology, having successfully completed his certification in NBE (US) – National Board of Echocardiography (2022).
Recently (June 2023), he became a Member of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) in echocardiography.
He particularly enjoys all aspects of cardiovascular health including heart failure, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, cardiomyopathies, and chronic complex patients. He is also an expert in peri-operative care. He provides holistic care for patients.

Qualifications:
Priyanka completed her medical degree at Monash University and basic physicians training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She then undertook specialist cardiology training at Nepean Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. She completed her Cardiology Imaging Fellowship at Prince of Wales Hospital and is a Level A CTCA Specialist. She has also previously worked at St George Hospital as an Imaging Cardiologist Locum Staff Specialist.
